Impact Analysis Methodology Approach
A key to improved national decision making is the ability to measure the impact and performance of past climate change adaptation interventions, identify lessons and apply the results for future long- term collective benefit.
The impacts analysis methodology framework developed by the GCCA+ SUPA project provides guidance on how to objectively assess the impact of completed adaptation interventions.
Four main criteria have been identified to assess impact: effectiveness, sustainability, social behavioural changes and lessons learnt.
There are four stages to complete an impact assessment:
- Stage 1: Conduct a literature search and identify the sector and intervention(s) to be assessed.
- Stage 2: Prepare the checklists, tools and indicators and collect the data.
- Stage 3: Align the data with the criteria and prepare the impact assessment.
- Stage 4: Share the impact assessment with partners.
Two versions of the impact analysis methodology have been prepared: a light version which requires minimum resources and time, and an extended version that requires significantly more resources and a longer time period.
