SUMMARY:GCCA+ SUPA Output 1 Regional Training
DESCRIPTION:Participants brief: SPREP SUPA Regional iA Training Nov ( https://gccasupa.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/SPREP-SUPA-Regional-iA-Training-Nov.pdf )\nThe Global Climate Change Alliance Plus Scaling up Pacific Adaptation (GCCA+ SUPA) is about scaling up climate change adaptation measures in specific sectors supported through knowledge management and capacity building. This 4.5-year (2019-2023) project funded by the EU is being implemented by the Pacific Community (SPC) in partnership with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and The University of the South Pacific (USP), in collaboration with the governments and peoples of Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Tonga and Tuvalu.\nA component of the project involved designing an impact methodology that assessed past adaptation interventions. Taking the lead role, SPREP developed an iA Methodology. This was trialled in the Cook Islands, FSM, Palau and Tonga on selected adaptation interventions from the last 5-6 years.\nPARTICIPANTS NOTE:\nThe workshop program shares the background on the iA Methodology covering theory, application and lessons learnt. Field visits to provide practical experience to country participants in applying the “light version” impact tools; collect data, collate and analyse the data before its inputted into the newly built database, to be launched at the regional training event.\nTalanoa:\nConverse with others on topical matters centred on tracking impact of adaptation in the Pacific. Participants are to join at least two sessions.\nNetworking:\nInteract with others of similar interests and develop professional contacts. Key interest groups in attendance: GIS-spatial, IT-knowledge management and Adaptation practitioners.\n
